Order Entry

Upon receipt of your purchase order approving our quote, the required information is entered into our E2 workflow routing system. All tool drawings and specifications are directed to our Engineering Department for a thorough analysis and a recommended routing plan with an estimated production time frame.

This analysis includes redrawing the original CAD drawing submitted by the customer to a standard format used by our company to maximize handling efficiency by eliminating the need for operator interpretations. All specs are converted to English units of measure, and final drawings are stored both electronically and in hard-copy formats for future reference.

Once the analysis is complete, machining processes are determined. Using a sophisticated job and machine barcode system within the E2 Shop System, Engineering develops a shop routing schedule detailing the manner in which each job is processed, along with estimated time for each machining stage. By utilizing this computerized system, your job is routed through the shop as efficiently as possible.

Additionally, the Carr Tool Engineering Department can design special and unique new tools as required by our customers. They are also available to evaluate, analyze and make recommendations regarding tooling problems our customers may have either with our tools or with tools made by another manufacturer. For more information on the other technical capabilities of our Engineering Department, please click here.

A list of required raw materials to be used at each step of the job's machining process is also generated within the E2 computer system and monitored by our Purchasing Department. Raw materials are ordered on a just-in-time basis, reducing overhead from maintaining excessive stock, and eliminating possible delays caused by not having the right inventory at the right time. We actively seek to purchase materials from ISO-certified suppliers, resulting in a less than one percent supplier materials rejection rate upon receipt at our plant. Our customers experience these benefits through more efficient turnaround times and guaranteed high-quality products.
